When students have vocabulary definitions to remember, no matter what subject, I write the vocabulary terms on index cards. With tape I stick one or more to students' backs, and other students in the room have to give each other definitions of what is on the cards.
Once a student guesses it, he or she gives it back to me and then helps other students until everyone is done. This tests all of the students, because if a student can't explain or give a definition of a word, it shows.
Every student I've tried this with has loved this!
